WHO ARE WE?
A COMMUNITY OF TRUTH AND LOVE
Cornerstone Church is a community of worshipers redeemed by God’s grace through the life, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Once slaves to sin and enemies of God, we are now adopted into His family as beloved children. In other words, we are a people whose whole relationship to God has been entirely transformed!
The same gospel that unites us to the Savior, unites us to one another. As sons and daughters of God, we are made brothers and sisters in Christ. Therefore, the sincerity of our love for one another in the church will only be as strong as our commitment to gospel truth. The gospel is the foundation upon which Christian love depends - it’s the soil in which love inevitably grows.
We recognize that our commitment to the truth is proven genuine only to the degree that we truly love one another. The two cannot be separated. For this reason, it is our prayer to be known as a community of truth and love.
“A COMMUNITY OF TRUTH…”
We are wholeheartedly committed to teaching and obeying the whole counsel of God, and believe that the Word of God is the final authority for all matters pertaining to faith and life. Our church stands upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone. We identify ourselves without apology with the historic Christian faith, best expressed in the great creeds of the early church and confessions of the Reformation. We believe that the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession of Faith contains an excellent expression of the Christian faith as taught in God’s Word.
“… A COMMUNITY OF LOVE”
The church is not built up by truth alone, but by our speaking the truth to one another in love (Ephesians 4:15). And so, at Cornerstone we long to be known not only by our love for truth, but by the genuineness of our love for God and one another. God’s design for His people is that we be united in love, demonstrating to the world and to one another something of the amazing grace, mercy, patience, forgiveness and compassion that He has shown to us in Christ. By this, the world will see that we are truly His disciples and God will be glorified by the demonstration of His love in us (John 13:34-35; Matthew 5:16).
